The Paramount Ruler of Nortem Bori Communities in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Eminence Sir Dr. Lenu Tsaro Igbara JP, Gbene Teekoo 1X, has commended the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (retd.), for his contributions to the Nigerian Army and the fight against insecurity during his tenure.
Igbara made the remarks at the public presentation of a book titled Military Transformational Leadership in Action: The Buratai Era, where he described security as a collective responsibility requiring the involvement of all stakeholders.
According to the traditional ruler, addressing insecurity in Nigeria should not be left solely to the military or other security agencies, stressing that government, traditional institutions, communities and citizens must work together to confront the challenges.
He said, “Security is a holistic thing and all of us must have our hands on the desk. If all of us can come together at a round table and address the issue of insecurity, it will become a thing of the past.”
The monarch said the country could make significant progress in tackling insecurity if stakeholders were willing to put aside differences and develop coordinated approaches to the nation’s security challenges.
He also commended the organisers of the book presentation for documenting the leadership experience and contributions of Buratai, saying the publication would provide an opportunity for Nigerians, particularly younger generations, to learn from his years of service.
Igbara expressed appreciation to the organisers for putting together the event, noting that the book would contribute to public understanding of military leadership, service and national development.
He further praised Buratai’s personal lifestyle and called on Nigerians to draw lessons from his conduct and dedication to public service.
The traditional ruler said the values associated with responsible leadership, discipline, commitment and service to the nation should be encouraged among Nigerians, particularly at a time when the country continues to address various security and socio-economic challenges.
The book presentation brought together prominent personalities from the political, military, traditional and business sectors.
Among those present were the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Dr. Umar Abdul Mutallab, founder of Jaiz Bank; the Emir of Kano, HRH Muhammad Sanusi II; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.); politicians, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.

The gathering provided a platform for participants to reflect on military leadership, national security and the experiences of the Nigerian Army during Buratai’s tenure as Chief of Army Staff.
The event also highlighted the importance of documenting the contributions and experiences of military leaders as part of efforts to preserve institutional history and provide lessons for future generations.
Igbara’s call for a collective approach to insecurity further underscored the need for stronger cooperation between security agencies and civilian stakeholders, including traditional institutions and local communities, in responding to security threats across the country.
The book, Military Transformational Leadership in Action: The Buratai Era, therefore served as a focal point for discussions on leadership, military transformation and national security, with participants examining lessons from Buratai’s period as Chief of Army Staff.
