President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday night returned to Abuja after completing a five-day religious visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he performed the Umrah (Lesser Hajj) pilgrimage in the holy city of Makkah.
The President’s return brought to an end his religious journey to the Kingdom, during which he offered special prayers for Nigeria’s peace, security, unity and prosperity.
Tinubu’s aircraft touched down at exactly 8:53 p.m. at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The President had departed Abuja for Saudi Arabia on Thursday, October 29, spending five full days in the Kingdom to undertake the spiritual exercise.
The Umrah pilgrimage, also known as the Lesser Hajj, is an Islamic religious obligation that can be performed at any time of the year, unlike the annual Hajj, which takes place during a specified period in the Islamic calendar.
The spiritual exercise involves a series of religious rites in Makkah, including the circumambulation of the Holy Kaaba and the walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
During the pilgrimage, the President’s prayers for Nigeria reportedly centred on the country’s continued peace, improved security, national cohesion and economic prosperity.
His prayers come at a time when Nigeria continues to pursue lasting solutions to security challenges, economic pressures and other developmental concerns confronting the nation.
The President’s return to the nation’s capital is expected to see him resume his official engagements and responsibilities at the seat of government.
The religious visit also underscores the significance of faith and prayers in seeking divine guidance for the country’s leadership and the collective aspirations of Nigerians.
Tinubu’s arrival in Abuja at 8:53 p.m. on Wednesday marked the conclusion of his latest pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
