The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Campaign Council has indicated that additional appointments and the unveiling of more campaign structures are expected as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The development is part of efforts to strengthen the party’s organisational framework and expand its presence across the country ahead of the polls.
The ADC has in recent months attracted prominent opposition figures and political stakeholders as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum. Among those associated with the coalition around the party are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal.
The party’s growing political activities have also included the development of structures at state and grassroots levels, with its leaders repeatedly emphasising the need to build an organisation capable of mobilising supporters across the country.
The latest indication of further appointments and structures suggests that the campaign organisation is still being expanded, with additional individuals expected to be assigned responsibilities as the election approaches.
Political observers have also linked the strengthening of the ADC to the broader realignment taking place ahead of the 2027 elections, as politicians and political groups continue to review their affiliations and alliances.
The ADC has presented itself as an opposition platform bringing together politicians and groups with different political backgrounds. Its emergence has generated considerable attention in the developing 2027 political landscape, particularly following the movement of prominent opposition figures into the party.
Meanwhile, the party has continued to undertake organisational activities in preparation for the elections. In one of its recent exercises, the ADC announced the completion of screening for aspirants across the states and the Federal Capital Territory, reflecting its preparations for the various elective positions.
The party has also been developing its structures at the state level. In Borno State, for instance, the ADC said it was working to establish a stronger opposition structure capable of contesting local, state and national positions in 2027.
The anticipated appointments are therefore expected to complement the existing campaign structure and give responsibilities to more party members and political stakeholders ahead of the electioneering period.
As the 2027 elections draw closer, attention is expected to remain focused on how the ADC organises its campaign machinery, resolves internal issues, selects candidates and translates its growing political coalition into a nationwide grassroots structure.
The party’s expansion comes against the backdrop of an increasingly active political environment in which major parties and emerging alliances are repositioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
