The political landscape in Nasarawa State is gradually assuming a new dimension as the All Progressives Congress (APC) takes a decisive step towards consolidating its structures and strengthening its preparedness for the 2027 general elections. The constitution of the Presidential and Gubernatorial Campaign Council, with Governor Abdullahi Sule appointed as Chairman and Coordinator, is more than an administrative arrangement; it is a strategic declaration of the party’s readiness for the political contest ahead.
By appointing Governor Sule to lead and coordinate the campaign council, the APC has placed its confidence in a leader who understands the political dynamics of Nasarawa State, the importance of party unity and the demands of electoral mobilisation. His position at the helm of the campaign structure signals continuity of leadership, strategic direction and a coordinated approach towards achieving the party’s objectives in 2027.
Equally significant is the appointment of Dr. Joseph Oboshi Attah as Director-General of the Campaign Council. His responsibility will be central to translating the political vision of the leadership into practical strategies, effective mobilisation and coordinated engagements across the 13 local government areas of the state.
The timing of this development is particularly important. With the 2027 general elections approaching, political parties can no longer afford to operate on assumptions or rely solely on individual political popularity. Winning elections requires organisation, discipline, effective communication, grassroots penetration and the ability to bring different political interests under one coordinated structure. The Nasarawa APC appears determined to establish that foundation early.
At the centre of the gubernatorial campaign is Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship election. His candidacy gives the campaign council a clear gubernatorial direction and an opportunity to present a compelling development agenda to the electorate.
Wadada’s emergence as the party’s candidate represents an important chapter in the political evolution of Nasarawa State. As the Senator representing Nasarawa West and one time Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, he brings legislative experience, political exposure and an understanding of public-sector accountability to the forthcoming governorship contest.
His vision, anchored on the HEARTS development agenda, provides a framework for addressing critical sectors of the state. Health, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, Transportation and Infrastructure, alongside Security, are central considerations in building a prosperous, inclusive and economically productive Nasarawa State.
The challenge before the campaign council will therefore be to communicate this vision effectively, demonstrate how it complements the achievements of the present administration and explain how a Wadada-led government intends to build on existing foundations while opening new opportunities for the people.
Governor Abdullahi Sule also occupies a strategic position in this political transition. Having led Nasarawa State through his administration’s development programmes, he is now expected to provide the leadership, institutional experience and political coordination required to present the APC as a united and credible political platform. His role will be particularly important in ensuring that the party’s structures, elected representatives, stakeholders and grassroots supporters work towards a common objective.
The relationship between Governor Sule and Senator Wadada is another important factor in the unfolding political equation. A successful transition requires more than the endorsement of a successor; it demands sustained cooperation, mutual confidence and a shared commitment to the development of the state. The campaign council provides an institutional platform through which such cooperation can be strengthened.
Furthermore, the Presidential component of the council demonstrates that the APC’s electoral strategy in Nasarawa is not limited to the governorship contest. The party must also mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. Coordinating presidential and gubernatorial campaigns under one broad structure offers an opportunity to harmonise political activities, strengthen party loyalty and maximise grassroots engagement.
The November 3, 2026 inauguration at the Aliyu Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Government House, Lafia, will therefore carry considerable political significance. It will formally bring the appointed leadership and other stakeholders together to commence the work of translating the party’s electoral objectives into an organised campaign operation.
However, the real measure of success will not be the number of political dignitaries at the inauguration or the impressive titles attached to members of the council. It will be the ability of the structure to reach communities, listen to citizens, communicate policies, resolve internal disagreements and mobilise genuine support across the state.
The APC must also recognise that 2027 will demand issue-based engagement. Voters will be interested in security, employment, education, healthcare, agricultural productivity, infrastructure, economic opportunities and responsible management of public resources. The campaign must therefore be built around practical solutions and a convincing development proposition.
For Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the new campaign structure presents an opportunity to take his message beyond political gatherings and stakeholder endorsements to the ordinary people in villages, towns and communities across Nasarawa State. His proposed administration must be presented not merely as a change of political leadership but as a development proposition founded on accountability, equal opportunity, inclusive governance and sustainable growth.
The campaign council must also ensure that every local government, ward and political constituency has a meaningful role in the mobilisation process. The strength of the APC will ultimately be determined by its ability to unite its members, accommodate diverse interests and maintain a functional relationship between the party leadership and the electorate.
As November 3 approaches, one message is becoming increasingly clear: Nasarawa APC is moving from political preparations to institutional campaign organisation. Governor Abdullahi Sule’s appointment as Chairman and Coordinator, alongside Dr. Joseph Oboshi Attah’s appointment as Director-General, establishes the leadership framework for the task ahead.
The 2027 election will undoubtedly present its own challenges, but an organised party, a united political family and a clearly communicated development agenda can provide a formidable foundation for electoral success.
For Nasarawa APC, the assignment is now clear: consolidate the achievements of the present administration, strengthen the party’s structures, mobilise support for President Tinubu and take Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu’s governorship vision to every corner of the state.
**November 3 is therefore more than an inauguration date. It marks the beginning of a critical phase in Nasarawa APC’s journey towards 2027. The political machinery is being assembled, the leadership structure is taking shape, and the countdown to the next electoral contest has entered a more decisive stage.**
**The task ahead is unity, organisation, effective mobilisation and a convincing message of development.**
