Hon. Toyin Balogun has described the proposed combination of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and former intelligence chief, Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura, as the best presidential ticket Nigeria can have at this time.

Balogun said a Makinde-Daura administration would, if elected, provide effective leadership and address some of the country’s major challenges, particularly in the areas of economic development, security and other critical sectors.

She made the remarks during the official commissioning of the APM campaign office, where she also called on Nigerians, particularly women, to participate actively in the 2027 general elections.

Balogun urged Nigerians to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, arguing that the country required a new direction and leadership capable of responding effectively to the economic and security challenges confronting the nation.

According to her, the proposed presidential combination of Makinde and Daura possesses the experience and capacity required to provide purposeful leadership and move the country forward.

She expressed confidence that Makinde, as President, would perform well in managing the economy, improving security and addressing challenges across other sectors of national development.

Balogun also identified the role of women in the electoral process as crucial, urging Nigerian women to mobilise their communities and participate fully in the 2027 elections.

She said women should not remain on the sidelines of the political process but should use their numerical strength and influence to shape the direction of the country through their votes.

The commissioning of the APM campaign office provided a platform for Balogun to make a strong case for what she described as a change in political direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

She called on Nigerians to carefully assess the performance of the current administration and make informed choices when they go to the polls.

Balogun specifically urged voters to reject the APC, insisting that the country needed leadership that would prioritise economic growth, security and improved living conditions for citizens.

The 2027 presidential contest is expected to generate intense political competition, with political actors and groups already positioning themselves ahead of the elections.

In making the case for Makinde, Balogun pointed to what she described as his capacity to manage economic and developmental issues.

She expressed optimism that the Oyo State governor’s experience in governance would be useful at the national level if he eventually secures the presidential mandate.

She also presented the proposed Makinde-Daura combination as one capable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges in complementary areas, particularly economic management and national security.

Daura, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), brings extensive experience in Nigeria’s security and intelligence sector.

Balogun argued that such experience would be valuable in tackling the security challenges facing the country.

A major focus of Balogun’s appeal was the need for greater political participation by Nigerian women.

She urged women across the country to take an active interest in the 2027 elections and exercise their franchise.

According to her, women have an important role to play in determining the outcome of elections and should therefore ensure that their votes are used to support the political direction they believe will best serve the country.

She also called on Nigerians generally to remain engaged in the electoral process and make their choices based on the leadership and policies they desire for the country.

The remarks were made at the official commissioning of the APM campaign office, an event that further signalled the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The commissioning brought supporters and political stakeholders together as preparations for the forthcoming electoral contest begin to take shape.

Balogun used the occasion to reiterate her support for the proposed Makinde-Daura ticket and to encourage supporters to begin mobilisation ahead of the election.

She maintained that Nigeria could achieve progress in the economy, security and other sectors under what she described as competent and purposeful leadership.

With political alignments already beginning to emerge ahead of 2027, statements such as Balogun’s are expected to add to the growing debate over the candidates and political platforms that Nigerians may be asked to choose from at the next general election.

For Balogun, however, the choice is clear: Nigerians, particularly women, should mobilise for political change and vote the APC out in 2027, while supporting candidates she believes can provide better leadership for the country.
