Ededem Hogan, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi Federal Constituency in Cross River State, has promised to provide effective and inclusive representation to his constituents if elected into the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
Hogan, who received his Certificate of Return during the NDC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, inauguration of the party’s National Campaign Council (NCC) and presentation of certificates to its candidates, pledged to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community and individual across the constituency.
He said his ambition was driven by the desire to improve the welfare of the people and ensure that governance delivers tangible benefits to ordinary citizens, irrespective of their social or economic status.
The NDC candidate assured the people of Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi that, if given the mandate, he would prioritise their interests and work towards ensuring that their voices are adequately represented in the National Assembly.
According to him, democratic governance should translate into practical improvements in the lives of citizens rather than remain a political promise without corresponding benefits.
Hogan said he was committed to ensuring that the people of his constituency enjoyed the benefits of democracy through responsive leadership, effective representation and policies that address their needs.
He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the party of failing Nigerians and expressing confidence that the 2027 general elections would provide an opportunity for voters to make a change.
“The APC has failed woefully. We are just waiting for 2027 to send them packing,” he said.
The NDC candidate urged Nigerians to look beyond the ruling party and consider alternative political leadership capable of addressing the country’s challenges and improving the living conditions of citizens.
He also declared his support for the NDC presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, describing them as the candidates Nigerians should support in the 2027 general elections.
Hogan expressed optimism that the NDC would make significant political gains in the forthcoming elections, urging party members and supporters to remain committed to the party’s vision and mobilise voters across their respective constituencies.
The presentation of certificates to the party’s candidates formed part of the NDC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, as the party seeks to strengthen its structures, consolidate its leadership and mobilise support nationwide.
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council is also expected to provide a platform for coordinating campaign activities, harmonising strategies and promoting the party’s candidates and programmes ahead of the polls.

For Hogan, the receipt of the Certificate of Return marks an important step in his political journey and his bid to represent Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi in the House of Representatives.
His pledge to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every constituent is expected to form a central part of his campaign message as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
As Nigerians prepare for another electoral contest, candidates across political parties are expected to present their programmes and convince voters that they possess the leadership capacity to address the country’s pressing challenges.
Hogan’s appeal to voters will therefore depend on his ability to translate his promises into a clear agenda for development, effective representation and improved opportunities for the people of Calabar South, Akpabuyo and Bakassi.
The 2027 general elections are expected to provide voters with an opportunity to assess the performance of political parties and decide who should lead the country and represent their interests at the various levels of government.
