Jonathan Andzayi Jabez, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Nasarawa Eggon West Constituency in the House of Representatives, has called for a change of government in Nigeria, declaring that the country needs a new direction ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jabez, who expressed support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, said he believed the former vice-president had the policy proposals and plans required to address the country’s challenges and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.
The ADC candidate made the remarks during the inauguration of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council, an event attended by the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate, the Director-General of the campaign council and members of his team, party chieftains, stakeholders and supporters.
According to Jabez, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has failed Nigerians in several areas, making a change in leadership necessary to address the country’s socioeconomic challenges.
“Tinubu must go. This is the time Nigeria needs change, and I believe Atiku Abubakar is the person who can do the job,” Jabez said.
He explained that his support for Atiku was based on his confidence in the former vice-president’s plans and policy proposals for the country.
“I believe Atiku will do the job well, looking at the plans and policies he has for Nigeria. President Bola Tinubu has failed us in all ramifications,” he said.
Jabez’s remarks reflect his political position as an ADC candidate seeking to mobilise support for the party ahead of the next general elections.
Beyond the presidential contest, the Nasarawa Eggon West candidate pledged to prioritise the interests of his constituents if elected to the House of Representatives.

He promised to work towards ensuring that the benefits of democracy reached people across the constituency, stressing that effective representation must translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.
According to him, his legislative ambition is driven by a commitment to serving his people and ensuring that their concerns receive adequate attention at the national level.
Jabez assured the electorate that he would not betray their confidence if given the opportunity to represent them in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.
“If my people vote for me to represent them in the House of Representatives, I will make sure the dividends of democracy reach everybody in my constituency. I promise not to fail them,” he said.
He added that his commitment to the development of the constituency remained unwavering, insisting that he had continued to contribute to the welfare of his people despite not yet occupying the legislative position he was seeking.
“I will continue with the good work I am doing for my people, even though I am not there yet,” he stated.
The candidate’s pledge places constituency development, accountability and inclusive representation at the centre of his political message.
For many communities, the dividends of democracy are reflected in access to basic infrastructure, quality education, healthcare, employment opportunities, improved security and other public services that directly affect living standards.
Jabez said he was determined to ensure that his constituents benefited from democratic governance, although specific legislative proposals and implementation plans were not detailed in his remarks at the event.
His commitment to inclusive representation suggests that he intends to make the interests of his constituency a priority if elected to the House of Representatives.
However, translating such promises into measurable results would depend on the policies pursued, the resources available, collaboration with relevant authorities and effective oversight of public programmes.
The inauguration of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council brought together party leaders, political stakeholders and supporters as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.
The presence of the presidential candidate, his running mate, campaign officials and other party leaders provided a platform for discussions on the party’s political direction and efforts to mobilise support.
Jabez used the occasion to express his support for Atiku Abubakar while presenting his own legislative ambition as an opportunity to advance the interests of the people of Nasarawa Eggon West Constituency.
His remarks linked the national political debate over leadership and governance with the need for effective representation at the constituency level.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, candidates and political parties are expected to present their programmes to voters and explain how their proposed policies would address the country’s challenges.
For Jabez, the central message is that Nigerians need a change in leadership at the federal level, while his own ambition is anchored on a promise to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every part of Nasarawa Eggon West Constituency.
He maintained that he would remain committed to his people and would not disappoint them if elected to the House of Representatives.
