Dr. Ataga Philip Aigbogun, MBBS, MPH, FCAI, DFMIMPS, a medical imaging expert, public health physician and Ph.D candidate, has been conferred with the prestigious Fellowship of the MSME Institute of Management and Professional Studies.
The recognition, according to Aigbogun, represents a significant milestone in his professional journey and has further renewed his commitment to excellence, integrity, lifelong learning and responsible leadership.
Speaking on the significance of the honour, Aigbogun expressed profound gratitude and humility, describing the fellowship as both a recognition of his professional contributions and a call to greater service.
He said the distinction would motivate him to continue developing his professional and academic capabilities while contributing meaningfully to healthcare delivery and the wider society.
Aigbogun’s professional career brings together medical imaging, public health and academic research, three complementary areas which he said have enabled him to contribute to individual patient care, population health improvement, professional development and evidence-based healthcare leadership.
According to him, the fellowship is particularly significant because it underscores the importance of combining professional competence with sound management and leadership principles.
He noted that effective healthcare delivery requires not only technical expertise but also responsible management, accountability, informed decision-making, teamwork and continuous professional development.
The new Distinguished Fellow said the recognition had therefore challenged him to uphold higher professional standards and remain committed to acquiring and applying knowledge that would improve the quality of services available to the people.
As a medical imaging expert, Aigbogun said the fellowship had strengthened his determination to promote accurate diagnosis, timely reporting, ethical practice and patient-centred diagnostic services.
He emphasised the importance of reliable diagnostic services in modern healthcare, noting that accurate and timely medical information is critical to effective clinical decision-making and patient management.
He said the recognition would further inspire him to promote quality assurance, encourage effective teamwork and ensure that patients receive compassionate, reliable and professional care.
Aigbogun’s approach places emphasis on combining technological and professional competence with human-centred care, particularly in an area of medicine where patients often depend on accurate diagnostic information for subsequent treatment decisions.
Beyond medical imaging, Aigbogun is also a public health physician and is currently pursuing a Ph.D.
He said his academic journey had reinforced his interest in research, disease prevention, health education and the development of sustainable solutions to healthcare challenges.
According to him, the fellowship has further strengthened his resolve to contribute to evidence-based healthcare interventions capable of addressing public health challenges at both individual and community levels.
He stressed the importance of translating academic knowledge and research findings into practical interventions that can improve health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
His multidisciplinary professional engagement, he said, provides an opportunity to bridge the gap between clinical practice, public health and academic research.
As Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of Ataga Scan and Diagnostic Services Ltd., Aigbogun said the honour would also inspire him to strengthen the organisation’s systems and improve its capacity to deliver quality diagnostic services.
He said his priorities include investment in staff development, embracing innovation and building a sustainable diagnostic organisation recognised for excellence and reliability.
According to him, the responsibility of leading a healthcare organisation extends beyond personal or commercial advancement, stressing that healthcare institutions must remain focused on professional standards, patient welfare and service to society.

He said the fellowship had therefore reinforced his determination to develop systems that encourage continuous learning, accountability, teamwork and innovation among healthcare professionals.
Aigbogun also pledged to use the experience and recognition gained throughout his professional journey to support younger professionals and contribute to the development of the healthcare sector.
He said he considered the fellowship not merely as a personal achievement but as a responsibility to mentor younger professionals, support colleagues, share knowledge and contribute to healthcare development.
He maintained that professional recognition should serve as an encouragement to give back to society and create opportunities for others to develop their skills and fulfil their potential.
The new Fellow also highlighted the importance of responsible leadership, saying professionals in positions of influence should demonstrate integrity, accountability and commitment to continuous improvement.
Aigbogun expressed appreciation to his family, colleagues, friends and well-wishers who celebrated with him following the conferment.
He particularly acknowledged the management and staff of Ataga Scan and Diagnostic Services Ltd. for their support, prayers, messages and goodwill during the period of the recognition.
He said their encouragement, dedication, love and support had made the achievement even more memorable.
He expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of his professional journey and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
The conferment of the Distinguished Fellowship, he noted, has consequently opened another chapter in his professional journey, with a renewed determination to combine expertise, ethical practice, research, management and leadership in the service of humanity.
For Aigbogun, the recognition is not an endpoint but an additional responsibility to pursue excellence, strengthen healthcare delivery, advance knowledge and inspire the next generation of professionals.
