A Kogi State-born philanthropist and community development advocate, Hon. Engr. James Akale, has congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
Akale, in a goodwill message marking the anniversary, called on Nigerians to remain committed to national unity, patriotism, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, stressing that peace and stability remain critical to the sustainable development of the country.
He urged citizens to reflect on the significance of Nigeria’s independence and the sacrifices made by the country’s founding fathers in their efforts to build a united and prosperous nation.
According to him, the 66th anniversary provides an opportunity for Nigerians to celebrate the country’s achievements while also renewing their commitment to overcoming the challenges confronting the nation.
Akale described Nigeria’s cultural, ethnic and religious diversity as a major strength that should be harnessed for national development rather than allowed to become a source of division.
He called on Nigerians to promote tolerance, understanding and respect for one another, noting that the country’s progress depends largely on the ability of its citizens to work together despite their differences.
The philanthropist further encouraged Nigerians to emulate the patriotism, courage and sense of national responsibility demonstrated by the nation’s founding fathers, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in building a country that future generations would be proud to inherit.
He said national development should not be left solely to government, urging citizens, community leaders, professionals, business owners, youths and other stakeholders to contribute positively to the growth and stability of the country.
Akale also reaffirmed his support for efforts aimed at strengthening national security, improving public safety and creating an enabling environment where Nigerians can live, work and pursue their legitimate aspirations with confidence.
He stressed that a secure and peaceful society is fundamental to economic growth, social development and improved living standards, urging all Nigerians to support initiatives that promote peace, security and national cohesion.
He further appealed to Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to the country, saying the challenges facing the nation could be addressed through collective responsibility, effective leadership, responsible citizenship and sustained commitment to national development.
The Kogi-born community developer expressed optimism that Nigeria would continue to make progress and overcome its challenges through unity of purpose and the collective efforts of its citizens.
He extended his warmest congratulations to Nigerians at home and abroad, wishing the nation continued peace, stability, progress and prosperity.
“Happy Independence, Nigerians. Congratulations to us all,” Akale said.
