By Muhammad Abubakar,Abuja

Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar, has said his emergence as head of the campaign council was ordained by God.

Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State and serving senator representing Zamfara West, made the declaration while speaking on the 2027 presidential election and his role in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The senator said his appointment to coordinate the ruling party’s campaign was not merely the result of political calculations, but an indication that God had chosen him for the responsibility at a critical period in the nation’s political development.

Yari’s appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council was announced on August 22, 2026, as the ruling party intensified preparations for the 2027 presidential election.

Since his appointment, the former Zamfara governor has embarked on consultations and mobilisation efforts aimed at strengthening support for President Tinubu across the country.

Speaking during a recent engagement with members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Gusau, Zamfara State, Yari canvassed support for Tinubu’s re-election and urged party supporters to work towards securing victory for the APC in 2027.

He described the forthcoming election as more than an ordinary political contest, stressing that the campaign would involve engaging Nigerians on the future direction of the country.

According to him, the APC would intensify its grassroots mobilisation and communication with citizens to explain the administration’s policies and achievements.

Yari also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s ability to defeat his opponents in the 2027 presidential election, arguing that the President possesses qualities and experience that distinguish him from other contenders.

He maintained that while every political aspirant had the constitutional right to contest, the APC would work diligently to retain the presidency.

The senator urged Nigerians and APC supporters to continue praying for the success of President Tinubu and the party, saying victory would require both hard work and divine intervention.

Yari also called for support for Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, expressing the hope that both Tinubu and Lawal would be allowed to consolidate what he described as the good work they had started for the people.

The APC campaign council leadership comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with major political figures and opposition groups beginning to position themselves for the contest.

Yari has consequently emerged as one of the key figures coordinating the APC’s nationwide mobilisation strategy for Tinubu’s second-term bid.

In recent engagements, he has emphasised the need for unity among APC members, effective grassroots mobilisation and a sustained campaign to convince voters to support the President.

The campaign director-general’s comments also come against the backdrop of increasing political realignments ahead of 2027, with opposition figures preparing to challenge the APC at the presidential polls.

In another recent address in Zamfara, Yari said he believed none of the major presidential contenders matched Tinubu in terms of merit and quality, while acknowledging that opposition politicians had the right to contest and campaign.

He urged APC supporters to remain committed to the party’s objective of securing victory in the presidential election, while calling for prayers and sustained grassroots mobilisation.

Yari’s emergence as campaign council director-general has therefore placed him at the centre of the APC’s efforts to consolidate support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

With political activities expected to intensify in the months ahead, the former governor will be expected to coordinate the campaign’s nationwide structures, harmonise mobilisation efforts and strengthen the APC’s appeal among voters across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The development is expected to further shape the political landscape as parties and political blocs intensify consultations, alliances and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
