Dr Jerry Joseph Damara, the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Gombe South, has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, urging Nigerians to support his re-election bid in the 2027 presidential election.
Damara described Tinubu as the best candidate among the contenders for the presidency, arguing that the President deserves another opportunity to consolidate the achievements of his administration and complete ongoing projects and programmes aimed at transforming the country.
He called on Nigerians to exercise patience with the current administration, expressing optimism that the country would experience greater progress in the next four years if Tinubu is re-elected.
The APC senatorial candidate made the call while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the inauguration of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu/APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
He said the inauguration marked an important step towards the commencement of campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Damara, the Tinubu administration has recorded notable achievements in road construction, student financing, agriculture, infrastructure development and other critical sectors of the economy.
He maintained that the scale of ongoing infrastructure projects across the country demonstrated the administration’s commitment to national development, urging Nigerians to assess the President’s performance before making their decisions at the polls.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best candidate among all the candidates. I call on Nigerians to come out and vote for him in 2027 so that he can return to office for a second term and complete what he has started,” he said.
Damara said the administration had undertaken several major road projects, adding that the scale of work in the sector was, in his assessment, unprecedented.
He specifically cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and other road projects as examples of the administration’s infrastructure drive, arguing that improved road networks would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade and support economic activities across the country.
He also highlighted the student loan initiative as one of the policies he believes could expand access to higher education by providing financial assistance to eligible students.
On agriculture, Damara said the sector remained central to the country’s economic development, food security and job creation, noting that sustained investment in agriculture and other productive sectors would be essential to improving the livelihoods of Nigerians.
He expressed confidence that the policies and projects initiated by the Tinubu administration would yield greater benefits if given sufficient time to mature.
“I believe the next four years will be better, by the grace of God. I am appealing to Nigerians to have patience and allow him to finish what he has started,” he said.
The senatorial candidate also called for prayers for the country, stressing that national development required both purposeful leadership and the collective support of citizens.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, expressing the belief that the country’s challenges could be addressed through sustained efforts, responsible governance and the implementation of policies designed to improve the welfare of the people.
Damara further reiterated his confidence in Tinubu’s record, maintaining that the President’s performance in infrastructure development and other sectors provided a strong basis for his re-election campaign.
“I have said it many times that, in my assessment, no President has matched his record, particularly when you look at the number of roads and other infrastructure projects undertaken by this administration,” he said.
He added that the coastal road project and other major infrastructure initiatives demonstrated the administration’s determination to improve the country’s transport network and create an enabling environment for economic growth.
Beyond his endorsement of Tinubu, Damara also pledged to prioritise the welfare of the people of Gombe South if elected to represent the senatorial district in the National Assembly in 2027.
He assured constituents that he would work to ensure that the dividends of democracy reached every community within the district, promising to make their needs and concerns central to his representation.

“If my people give me the opportunity to represent them in the Senate in 2027, I will not disappoint them. I will make sure the dividends of democracy reach everybody in my senatorial district,” he said.
He stressed that effective representation must go beyond occupying a legislative seat, explaining that elected officials have a responsibility to promote development, amplify the concerns of their constituents and work towards improving their living conditions.
The APC candidate’s pledge comes as political parties and their supporters intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with aspirants and political stakeholders outlining their priorities and seeking public support.
The inauguration of the Tinubu/APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council is expected to provide a platform for coordinating campaign activities, mobilising supporters and communicating the administration’s record and policy priorities to voters.
For Damara, the coming election presents an opportunity for Nigerians to decide whether the current administration should continue with its policies and ongoing projects for another four-year term.
He maintained that continuity in leadership would allow the President to build on the foundations already laid, while expressing hope that the next phase of the administration would bring greater improvements in infrastructure, education, agriculture and the general welfare of citizens.
He therefore urged Nigerians, particularly APC supporters and other stakeholders, to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and remain committed to the collective task of building a more prosperous and developed Nigeria.
As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027, Damara said he remained confident that the President’s achievements, as he assessed them, would be central to the campaign for a second term, while pledging to pursue inclusive development for the people of Gombe South if elected to the Senate.
