2027: Women, Nigerians Should Vote Out APC, Support Atiku — Dr Princess Anazodo

Barr. Dr. Princess Vivian Anazodo Awunor has called on Nigerian women and citizens across the country to mobilise ahead of the 2027 general elections and vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging Nigerians to support the presidential aspiration of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Awunor, who made the call during the ADC All Support Forum Town Hall meeting on the Atiku/Amaechi 2027 campaign, said the country needed a new political direction capable of addressing the economic and social challenges confronting Nigerians.

According to her, Atiku Abubakar represents what she described as the best option for Nigeria at the present time, particularly because of the policies and programmes she said he would bring to governance if elected president in 2027.

She urged women, in particular, to play a decisive role in the next election by mobilising their communities, educating voters and participating actively in the democratic process.

Awunor said the 2027 election presented Nigerians with an opportunity to make a critical choice about the future of the country, stressing that citizens should assess political parties and candidates based on their programmes, policies and capacity to deliver meaningful development.

She identified some of the policies associated with the Atiku campaign, including the proposed return of fuel subsidy and the reopening of Nigeria’s land borders, among other measures, as issues that she believes could have significant implications for the economy and the welfare of Nigerians.

She argued that the country’s economic difficulties had placed enormous pressure on families, businesses and ordinary citizens, making it necessary for Nigerians to critically examine alternative policy directions ahead of the 2027 elections.

The former vice president has previously campaigned on economic reforms, restructuring and measures aimed at improving Nigeria’s business environment and attracting investment. Awunor said such programmes deserved serious consideration by voters as the country approaches another general election.

She further appealed to Nigerians not to remain passive in the political process, urging them to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), participate in voter education and turn out in large numbers on election day.

According to her, women constitute a critical component of the Nigerian electorate and therefore have an important role to play in determining the country’s political future.

She called on women to move beyond political discussions within their immediate circles and become actively involved in grassroots mobilisation, voter sensitisation and advocacy for good governance.

Awunor also urged supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the broader opposition movement to remain united and focused on their objective of providing what she described as a credible alternative to the APC in 2027.

She maintained that political change could only be achieved through collective action, peaceful participation and the effective use of the ballot.

The town hall meeting provided a platform for supporters and stakeholders to discuss the 2027 political landscape, the proposed Atiku/Amaechi political project and the need for increased grassroots engagement ahead of the election.

Awunor appealed to Nigerians to put the national interest above personal, ethnic, religious or sectional considerations when making their choice at the polls.

She expressed optimism that Nigerians could collectively build a country where citizens enjoy greater economic opportunities, improved living standards, effective governance and stronger democratic institutions.

She concluded with a call for unity and collective responsibility, saying: “Together we can build a better Nigeria.”
