The Coordinator of the Osun State APC Women Network, Olubukola Olaboopo, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is well positioned to emerge victorious in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Olaboopo made the declaration while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the APC grand finale rally in Osogbo, where she described the massive turnout of party supporters as a clear indication of the growing strength and acceptance of the APC across Osun State.
According to her, the enthusiasm displayed by party members, particularly women, during the rally had further strengthened her conviction that the APC was adequately prepared for the election.
She said the party had embarked on extensive grassroots mobilisation across the state, reaching communities, political wards, women’s groups and other critical segments of the electorate as part of efforts to consolidate its support ahead of the poll.
Olaboopo described the APC as a strong and well-organised political platform with a formidable grassroots structure, adding that the party had remained focused on engaging voters and mobilising support at the community level.
She said the huge crowd at the grand finale rally was significant, noting that it demonstrated the determination of APC supporters to translate their enthusiasm into votes at the polling units.
“The turnout we witnessed today is encouraging. It shows that our people are ready and that the party has worked very hard at the grassroots. We have mobilised across the state and we are confident of the outcome,” she said.
While expressing optimism about the party’s chances, Olaboopo urged APC members and supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly throughout the electoral process.
She called on party faithful to obey electoral laws, respect other voters and avoid any action capable of undermining the peaceful conduct of the election.
The women coordinator also urged APC supporters to remain vigilant at their respective polling units and ensure that they participate actively in the process.
A major part of her appeal was directed at women across Osun State, whom she described as an important constituency capable of influencing the outcome of the election.
“My message to women is that they should go out and vote. They should participate in the process, protect their votes and ensure that their votes count,” Olaboopo said.
She urged women not to allow fear, intimidation or political differences to discourage them from exercising their constitutional right to vote.
According to her, women must recognise the importance of their participation in determining the leadership and direction of the state, stressing that their votes would play a crucial role in deciding the outcome of the election.
Olaboopo further called for unity among APC women and urged them to remain committed to the party while encouraging their supporters to turn out early and participate peacefully in the electoral process.
She also expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the APC-led Federal Government remained committed to implementing policies aimed at promoting development and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
She urged party members to remain united and focused, stressing that the success of the APC at the polls would depend not only on its mobilisation efforts but also on the ability of its supporters to participate responsibly and peacefully.
As the state enters the final hours before the election, Olaboopo maintained that the APC’s extensive grassroots mobilisation had placed the party in a strong position.
She expressed optimism that the results of the election would reflect what she described as the growing support for the party across Osun State, while calling on all eligible voters, particularly women, to come out peacefully and exercise their franchise.
The election is expected to attract intense political interest as the major parties seek the mandate of the people of Osun State. With the APC leadership urging its supporters to remain peaceful, organised and vigilant, the party’s women network is counting on strong female participation as a key factor in its bid for victory.
