The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) have held discussions on measures to increase crude oil production from their joint venture operations, with particular emphasis on drilling and development activities required to boost output.
The discussions took place in Abuja when the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, received a delegation from Chevron Nigeria Limited led by its Chairman and Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria/Mid-Africa Business Unit, Mr. Jim Swartz.
The meeting focused on strategies for strengthening the performance of the NNPC/CNL Joint Venture and accelerating activities that could deliver additional production volumes in the near term.
A major focus of the engagement was the drilling and development work required to unlock additional production capacity from the joint venture assets. Both parties also discussed immediate steps and collaborative actions needed to translate planned investments and technical activities into higher production output.
The engagement underscores the importance of continued collaboration between NNPC Ltd. and its international partners in sustaining and expanding Nigeria’s oil and gas production.
The two parties are expected to work towards advancing the identified drilling and development activities while addressing the requirements necessary for efficient execution and timely delivery of increased volumes.
The meeting also highlights the partners’ focus on strengthening the performance of existing joint venture operations at a time when increasing domestic hydrocarbon production remains important to Nigeria’s energy security and economic objectives.
NNPC Ltd. and Chevron have maintained a long-standing partnership in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas industry. The latest engagement reflects efforts by both organisations to deepen cooperation, accelerate field development activities and maximise production from their joint venture operations.
The discussions are expected to provide a basis for further action by both partners as they pursue the near-term production targets identified during the meeting.
