President of the Renewal Congress of Aladura and Celestial Churches in Politics (RECAP), Pastor Prof. Adeboyo Adeniji, has commended the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai (rtd.), CFR, for what he described as remarkable achievements during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army.
Adeniji said Buratai’s leadership of the Nigerian Army was characterised by efforts to strengthen the military’s capacity to confront insecurity through the provision and deployment of equipment and other resources required for military operations.
He made the remarks during the public presentation of the book, Military Transformational Leadership in Action: The Buratai Era, where he praised the organisers for documenting the former Army Chief’s leadership experience and contributions to Nigeria’s security sector.
According to him, the book provides an opportunity for Nigerians, particularly current and future leaders, to study the leadership principles, experiences and initiatives associated with the Buratai era and draw useful lessons from them.
Adeniji said, “Lt. Gen. T.Y. Buratai has done wonderfully well during his tenure. We are proud of his achievements, particularly his efforts toward providing the equipment needed to tackle insecurity.”
He also commended Buratai’s personal lifestyle and called on Nigerians to learn from his conduct, discipline and approach to leadership.
The RECAP president noted that leadership should not only be measured by positions held, but also by the values, principles and legacies individuals leave behind after their tenure.
He expressed appreciation to the organisers of the book presentation for undertaking what he described as an important initiative, saying the publication would enable Nigerians to gain a broader understanding of military leadership and the challenges associated with national security.
He said the documentation of leadership experiences was important because it would provide an avenue for younger generations to study the successes, challenges and lessons of those who had previously served the country in strategic positions.
The event attracted prominent Nigerians from the political, military, traditional, religious and business sectors.
Among those present were the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Alhaji Dr. Umar Abdul Mutallab, founder of Jaiz Bank; His Royal Highness Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano; and General Christopher Gwabin Musa, among other senior personalities and stakeholders.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for participants to reflect on Nigeria’s security challenges, military leadership and the need for sustained efforts to strengthen national security institutions.
The presence of political leaders, traditional rulers, military personalities, business leaders and other stakeholders underscored the broad interest in the issues of leadership and national security addressed by the book.
The public presentation of Military Transformational Leadership in Action: The Buratai Era is part of efforts to document and examine the leadership experience of Buratai as a former Chief of Army Staff, as well as the policies, initiatives and institutional developments associated with his tenure.
Participants at the event also emphasised the importance of drawing lessons from the country’s past security experiences while strengthening collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, traditional institutions and other stakeholders in addressing contemporary security challenges.
The event concluded with renewed calls for responsible leadership, national unity and collective commitment to addressing insecurity and promoting sustainable development in Nigeria.
