The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a schedule of activities for Monday, October 26, 2026, featuring a meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC), the commissioning of its newly acquired national secretariat in Abuja, and the inauguration of its National Campaign Council (NCC).
The party also disclosed that Certificates of Return would be presented to its candidates during the campaign council’s inauguration, which will be followed by a dinner.
The programme was announced in a press statement issued on Sunday, October 25, by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., who said the activities were part of the party’s preparations for its political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, the day’s programme will commence with the NEC meeting scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the JD Vance Centre, opposite A-Class Park, Kashim Ibrahim Way, Maitama, Abuja.
The party clarified that attendance at the meeting would be strictly by invitation, with admission restricted to members of the National Executive Committee.
The NEC meeting is expected to provide an opportunity for the party’s national leadership to deliberate on issues relating to its administration, organisation and political activities.
The second activity will be the commissioning of the party’s newly acquired national secretariat in Jabi, Abuja, scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The acquisition and commissioning of the facility mark an important organisational development for the party as it seeks to strengthen its administrative presence in the nation’s capital and coordinate its activities across the country.
The secretariat is expected to serve as a central point for the party’s national operations, leadership engagements and coordination with its state chapters and other structures.
The day’s programme will culminate in the inauguration of the National Campaign Council at 5:00 p.m., alongside the presentation of Certificates of Return to the party’s candidates.
The event will bring together designated members of the party’s national leadership and candidates contesting various elective positions under its platform.
The NDC stated that attendance at the inauguration would be restricted to members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the party’s presidential candidate and running mate, governorship candidates, and National Assembly candidates.
The presentation of Certificates of Return is expected to formally recognise the party’s candidates as they prepare for the next phase of their political engagements and electioneering activities.
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council is also expected to strengthen coordination among the party’s candidates and national leadership as the NDC works towards consolidating its structures and advancing its campaign objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.
The sequence of activities, from the NEC meeting to the commissioning of the secretariat and inauguration of the campaign council, underscores the party’s focus on internal administration, institutional development and campaign organisation.
In the statement, the party expressed appreciation to its members across the country for their continued support and loyalty, urging them to remain committed to its political mission.
The statement concluded with the party’s message: “Together, we can make a New Nigeria Possible,” reaffirming its stated commitment to building a new Nigeria through its political platform.
The announcement was signed by Osa Director, Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, on October 25, 2026.
