Hon. Umar Yahaya (Connect), Member representing Omala Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, has paid a formal condolence visit to the family of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, in Abuja.
Yahaya was accompanied on the condolence visit by the Executive Chairman of Omala Local Government Area, the Honourable Commissioner for Transportation, a former Ambassador to Botswana, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Grassroots Mobilisation.
During the visit, Yahaya described the late former governor as a great leader, elder statesman, monumental father figure and bridge-builder whose contributions to the development of Kogi State would remain significant.
The lawmaker said the death of the former governor was a profound loss not only to the people of Omala Constituency and Kogi State but also to Nigeria, given his years of service and contributions to public life.

According to him, Ibrahim Idris devoted a substantial part of his life to public service and demonstrated leadership qualities that earned him respect across different segments of society.
He noted that the late former governor played an important role in laying what he described as a solid foundation for the development of Kogi State, adding that his legacy would continue to be remembered by the people.
Yahaya further described the late Idris as a bridge-builder who contributed to fostering unity and understanding among the people, stressing that his passing had created a significant void in the political and social landscape of the state.
