A solar-powered borehole project is currently under construction in Unguwan Noma, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in an initiative facilitated by the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung.
The project, according to information made available on the ongoing development, is aimed at improving access to potable water for residents of the community and addressing challenges associated with inadequate water supply.
The drilling of the solar-powered borehole is currently in progress, with residents expressing appreciation to Senator Katung for facilitating the intervention.
The project is being coordinated at the local government level under the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary of Kauru Local Government Area, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu.
The intervention is expected to provide a more reliable source of water for households and other members of the community when completed. The use of solar power is also expected to provide an alternative and potentially sustainable energy source for operating the borehole, particularly in areas where access to conventional electricity may be limited.
Residents and supporters of the project have commended Senator Katung for what they described as an intervention that responds directly to the needs of people at the grassroots.
The development also underscores the importance of constituency-focused projects in addressing basic social needs and improving living conditions in rural communities.
Expressing their appreciation, beneficiaries and supporters of the initiative thanked Senator Katung for facilitating the project, while also praying for his continued success in public service.
“Thank you, Sunday Marshall,” supporters of the project said, expressing hope that the senator would continue to attract development projects to communities within Kaduna South Senatorial District.
They also expressed support for Senator Katung’s bid for a second term, saying his continued representation would provide an opportunity for further development interventions across the senatorial district.
The solar borehole project in Unguwan Noma is therefore being viewed by local stakeholders as an important community-level intervention, particularly given the central role of access to safe and reliable water in public health, household welfare and economic activities.
As the drilling work continues, residents are expected to look forward to the completion and commissioning of the facility, which could further ease the burden of accessing water in the community.
