The Tinubu Re-Election Action Group (TRAG) 2027, a political support organisation affiliated with the City Boy Movement, has formally unveiled its national leadership directory and activated its grassroots mobilisation campaign across Nigeria’s 774 Local Government Areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made this known at a World Press Conference attended by members of its National Executive Council, Board of Trustees, National Advisory Council, zonal and state coordinators, as well as other stakeholders.

Addressing journalists at the event, the National Coordinator of TRAG, Hon. Akinwande Jonathan Oludiya, said the organisation was established to promote peaceful, lawful and organised grassroots political engagement, particularly in support of the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima in 2027.

Oludiya explained that although TRAG is affiliated with the City Boy Movement, it maintains its own leadership, programmes and organisational structure.

According to him, the organisation’s vision is to build a strong, united and sustainable grassroots movement capable of connecting communities, political leaders and citizens through responsible political engagement and purposeful programmes.

He said the group’s mission was to establish functional structures across the 36 states of the federation, the Federal Capital Territory and all 774 Local Government Areas, with further coordination at the zonal, state, LGA and ward levels.

He stressed that TRAG’s grassroots structure was not merely designed to compile names on a register, but to create an effective network for communication, mobilisation, community engagement and democratic participation.

“The structure is designed to create an effective network for communication, mobilisation, community engagement and democratic participation,” Oludiya said.

The National Coordinator also disclosed that TRAG was developing programmes aimed at addressing issues of interest to different segments of society, including women and youth empowerment, agriculture and food security, cooperative development, youth and sports, small-business opportunities, voter education and grassroots community engagement.

He maintained that the organisation believes political participation should extend beyond election periods and should also focus on creating opportunities, strengthening communities and encouraging citizens to participate actively in democratic processes.

Oludiya said TRAG would, as the 2027 elections approach, continue to strengthen its grassroots structures, communicate responsibly about government policies and programmes, listen to citizens’ concerns and encourage peaceful and lawful participation in the electoral process.

He described the organisation’s philosophy as: “Strong Structure. Responsible Leadership. Grassroots Impact. Renewed Hope.”

The activation of the 774-LGA campaign, according to the group, marks the beginning of a broader grassroots mobilisation strategy intended to take its activities closer to communities across the country.

The group said the unveiling of its national leadership directory would also help to clarify its organisational structure and provide a framework for coordination among its national, zonal, state, LGA and ward-level representatives.

Speaking during the conference, several members of the organisation expressed their support for the Tinubu administration, citing what they described as ongoing efforts to reposition the country and address major developmental challenges.

They commended the Federal Government for its investments in infrastructure, road construction and rehabilitation, agricultural development and other sectors of the economy.

The members also highlighted the student loan programme, describing it as an important intervention aimed at improving access to higher education and reducing financial barriers confronting Nigerian students.

They further pointed to developments in agriculture, infrastructure and road networks as areas where they believe the administration has demonstrated its commitment to transforming the country.

The supporters acknowledged that the country continues to face economic and social challenges, but argued that the administration’s ongoing programmes and reforms should be given time and sustained support to deliver their intended outcomes.

They said TRAG members would take the responsibility of communicating what they consider the achievements and programmes of the administration to citizens at the grassroots while also listening to the concerns of communities.

The organisation said its mobilisation would be conducted within the framework of Nigeria’s democratic and legal processes, stressing the importance of peaceful political engagement as the country moves towards the 2027 elections.

The TRAG leadership further called on its coordinators and members across the country to remain disciplined, organised and committed to the principles of responsible political participation.

Oludiya said the organisation’s immediate priority was to consolidate its structures and ensure that its presence was felt at the grassroots level across the federation.

He expressed confidence that the combination of a functional organisational structure, community engagement and sustained mobilisation would enable TRAG to make a significant contribution to the campaign for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima.

The National Coordinator urged members of the organisation to remain committed to the group’s objectives and to promote messages capable of fostering unity, peace and development.

He said the group would continue to engage Nigerians on the administration’s policies and programmes while encouraging citizens to participate peacefully in the democratic process.

The conference ended with TRAG reaffirming its commitment to its grassroots mobilisation agenda and its determination to work towards securing a second term for the Tinubu-Shettima administration in the 2027 presidential election.

The organisation said its nationwide campaign would focus on building stronger connections between its leadership and communities while promoting what it described as responsible leadership, grassroots impact and the Renewed Hope agenda.
