The Member representing Ado-Ekiti/Irepodun-Ifelodun Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Fatoba Olusola Steve, has congratulated former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on his inauguration as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Fayose was inaugurated alongside other members of the REA Board on Friday, August 7, 2026, at the Ministry of Power in Maitama, Abuja, following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting to the development shortly after the inauguration, Fatoba described Fayose’s appointment as a recognition of his experience, leadership qualities and contributions to public service.
The lawmaker said he was particularly delighted by the appointment because Fayose remains a leader whose guidance and leadership have continued to be valuable to him.
“Fayose has been my leader and he will continue to remain my leader. I am proud of this appointment and confident that he will bring his wealth of experience to bear on the responsibilities before him,” Fatoba said.
He expressed optimism that the REA would experience a significant turnaround under the leadership of the former governor, noting that his administrative experience would help reposition the agency for greater efficiency and improved service delivery.
Fatoba said the new REA leadership had an important role to play in advancing the Federal Government’s efforts to extend electricity to rural and underserved communities, adding that effective leadership would be critical to achieving meaningful results.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting Fayose with the responsibility, describing the appointment as a demonstration of the President’s confidence in his capacity and a reflection of his magnanimity.
The lawmaker further urged stakeholders in the power sector to support the new board in delivering on its mandate, expressing confidence that its tenure would bring renewed energy and purposeful direction to rural electrification programmes across Nigeria.
He wished Fayose a successful tenure and expressed confidence that his leadership of the REA Board would translate into tangible benefits for Nigerians, particularly communities that are yet to enjoy adequate access to electricity.
